About Transeo

What is Transeo?
Transeo is an international non-profit association gathering experts from the private sector, the public sector and the academic sector in the field of transfer of ownership in small and medium-sized enterprises. Transeo aims at facilitating the exchange of good practices between its Members, but also aims to encouraging cross-border acquisitions of SMEs thanks to its community of dealmakers active in the “Transeo Deal Club”. What does Transeo do?
Transeo organises different kinds of activities to promote “business transfer” across the world, but also to provide benefits to its Members, who are specialists in the field. Transeo organises peer sharing sessions and working groups, but also organises regular online and physical meetings for its Members. Transeo also represents the voice of the business transfer industry in Europe and regularly interacts with European institutions on the topic. Transeo is also the organiser of the “Transeo Summit”, a top meeting place for business transfer experts with keynote speakers from all over the world, panel discussions and privileged networking sessions. Who is Member of Transeo?
Transeo is a unique community of Members: specialists in business transfer from the private sector (professionals, lawyers, brokers, …), advisors from the semi-public and public sector (government agencies, chambers of commerce …) and academia (business school, research centres, …). Does Transeo work with EU Commission?
After more than 10 years of existence, Transeo has become a reference expert for the European Commission, and other international key stakeholders such as other international associations – AECM, InvestEurope, European Family Businesses … Our latest action? We provided the European Commission with a practical eBook about the key ingredients for a successful business transfer ecosystem. The eBook was shared by the EU Commission to the key stakeholders in the Member States for a local implementation, that will further enable a friendly international ecosystem for transfers and acquisitions of businesses. What is the history of Transeo?
Transeo exists since 2010. It all started with the 3 founding Members: SOWALFIN Transmission, C.R.A. and MKBase, and the first Transeo Conference in 2009, gathering 200 actors active in transfers & acquisitions of SMEs. 95% of the participants agreed to form an international association to defend the interested of the business transfer industry, and Transeo was formally created in 2010. The following years are a story of development and growth of the association, offering always more to its Members, expanding its range of activities, and developing expertise and recognition from the key international stakeholders, such as the European Commission. How do I become a Member?
After a Transeo Discovery call with the Secretariat General team, you are invited to fill in the application form online. The form will be submitted for approval to the Transeo Board of Directors, who will provide its decision within 15 days. You will be informed of the decision and in case your application is approved, a Transeo onboarding call will be planned and the Transeo Welcome Pack will be sent to you! More details? -

Why should I become a Member?
By becoming a Member of Transeo, you get access to the exclusive benefits and to all activities proposed to our community: share experiences and good practices with peers from all over the world, be informed of the latest trends & have access to exclusive information about transfers & acquisitions of small businesses & M&A. You also get exclusive access to the Transeo Academy with numerous training sessions on soft skills & hard skills. if you are a M&A professional, you also have the opportunity to share international/cross-border deal opportunities (sell-side & buy-side) in the Transeo Deal Club. What does it cost to join Transeo?
All our Members see the benefit to pay the membership fee and have access to the Transeo Members benefits. That is why, since 2009, we have been able to grow the Transeo community from no member to more than 70 Members. In case a Member is not satisfied, we can exchange views to make sure his/her expectations are met by the Transeo activities. Members also have the possibility to resign any time. The amount of membership fee depends on the kind of organisation concerned and goes from 300 EUR for an independent researcher, to 1500 EUR for bigger private organisations. Can I do business with Transeo?
Of course! Since 2019, Transeo facilitates the international & cross-border transactions thanks to the Transeo Deal Club. To be short, Transeo Members gather and present short descriptions of blind profiles, either sell-side or buy-side, to other international advisors. Transeo is therefore the reliable neutral partner to meet international peers in a reliable and trustful environment. What you do then with the other Transeo Members is your own business. Transeo takes no success fee, and is not involved in the transaction. Transeo Deal Club is exclusively for Transeo Members. Is Transeo Deal Club exclusively for Transeo Members?
Yes, it is exclusively for Transeo Members. Nevertheless, you can contact the Transeo Secretariat General and have a discovery call. If you show a real motivation to join Transeo but are still hesitating, we could let you attend one Transeo Deal Club meeting. Then, you have to become a Member. I am the owner of a company for sale, what can I do?
You are the owner of a company for sale that has an international potential? You can find a foreign buyer in the Transeo Deal Club! How does it work? First, get in touch with your personal advisor (accountant, broker, M&A firm, lawyer …) and tell him about your selling project, and about Transeo as an international partner. Transeo Deal Club is exclusively for Transeo Members, therefore your advisor must become a Transeo Member, to get exclusive access to the international opportunities. Only after that, your advisor can present your company for sale to the Transeo Deal Club community, and get in contact with international counterparts, and hopefully find the right buyer for your company. A small motivation for your advisor? Transeo is not only about international deal sourcing. It is also exchanging experiences and good practices, trainings on specific M&A skills, get international recognition, take part to high-quality international events, and be part of a friendly cohesive community. You are the owner of a company and are looking to grow, diversify or expand abroad? You can find an international target in the Transeo Deal Club! How does it work? Transeo Deal Club is exclusively for Transeo Members, therefore your advisor must become a Transeo Member, to get exclusive access to the international opportunities. What is business transfer?
Business transfer refers to the change of ownership and management of a company to ensure its continuity once the owner retires. There are many different ways a business can be transferred: within the family to one or several successor(s), inside the company to the management for instance, to the workers also under the form of a cooperative, or outside the company to an entrepreneur or to another company. Transeo aims at promoting business transfer as a way to save jobs and to contribute to a circular lifecycle of companies and ensure the continuity of their resources and activity (staff, machines, clients …) and, therefore, making every company transferred “everlasting”.
